Upper School

The curriculum for grades nine through twelve is college preparatory; 100% of Clarksville Academy graduates received college acceptance.  Enrollment is limited to students of average or above average academic ability who are seeking a college preparatory curriculum.  In this environment, teachers can accomplish quality instruction and encouragement of special interests of students.  The guidance counselor is in frequent contact with students concerning colleges, scholarships, and career planning.

The quality of education offered to Clarksville Academy students has been evidenced by the fact the graduates have been able, in many instances, to attend the college of their choice.  Graduates of Clarksville Academy have been accepted to such colleges and universities as Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins, Rhodes, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, U.S. Military Academy, and many other challenging institutions.  Several National Merit Scholarships have been awarded to Clarksville Academy students.

Clarksville Academy students participate in the Educational Planning and Assessment System (EPAS) which is a testing program designed to improve teaching and learning so that students are better prepared for success.  All students in grade nine take the EXPLORE, students in grade ten taken the PLAN, and students in grade eleven take the ACT.  These assessments are designed to improve instruction, raise student achievement and prepare students for success.

Students in grades ten and eleven also take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT). This test is the basis for selection National Merit Scholars.

Students in grades eleven and twelve will take the ACT and/or the SAT as their college entrance examinations.  Students may choose to repeat these examinations throughout the course of their junior and senior years.

The academic year consists of two semesters with three grading periods per semester.  Semester examinations are administered at the end of each semester.
